Footwear Cleaning

Normal/ Patent Leather:

  • Clean the shoe with a damp cloth to remove dirt. To remove lumps of mud, use a blunt knife followed by a wet sponge to wipe the dirt off. Use a dry rag to remove dampness.
  • Can use Aerosol spray to clean if the dirt is rigid.
  • Wax polish gives shoes a better shine than cream. Avoid liquid polish, it can dry out and crack the leather.

Suede Leather:

  • Use suede and nubuck brush or any brush with soft bristle to remove stains and dirt. Always brush your shoes in one direction, i.e. heel to toe.
  • Liberally apply the suede and nubuckrenovator to clean the shoe thoroughly, brush off the dirt and allow the shoe to dry.
  • For rigid mud, use a blunt knife followed by a wet sponge with soapy water or suede shampoo.  Use a dry rag to remove dampness.
  • For oil/ grease stains use a suede shampoo. For other stains use a fine sandpaper or a pumice stone.
  • Do not let the mud settle on the leather for days, otherwise it becomes difficult to restore the shine of suede.
  • If necessary to level up and restore colour, apply liquid suede dressing of the appropriate shade.
Footwear Maintenance
  • Rotate your shoes: Shoes need a day off to retain their natural shape and structure. If you want the fine leather shoes to last longer, wear them on alternate days.
  • Use a shoe tree: The tension of the shoe tree maintains the original shape of the shoe. Place it every night, as it will absorb the moisture and naturally negate the the odour with its powerful scent of aromatic cedar.
  • Use a shoe horn: Save your heel collar from unnecessary wear and tear. Wear your shoes smoothly with a shoe horn.
  • Wear them only for 3-4 hours in the initial days: When the shoe is new, the leather is firm. Wear them for a few hours only in the initial weak, as the leather will stretch and shoe will take the shape of your foot. This will ensure comfort in the following days when you wear them for longer  in following days.
  • Let your shoe dry naturally: Shoes should never be put in direct sunlight to dry any sort of dampness, as it makes the leather brittle and stiff. Let them dry in shade to retain the shine.
